Recently I could lay my ears in the 5th disc of this boxset and I'm happy to say that the bass its really listenable. Not at the same level that RockBand/GuitarHero but its there the groove and great fingerpicking style of Jason, the only sad part its that some of this tracks dont have the solos but IMO this its the real band experience and what we dont have in the original LP. So If You wanna hear some bass in this Amazing album you should buy the 5th cd or best you can Match them from the downloadcard of your Box Set and you'll get the ItunesStore versions and don’t have to rebuy boxset again.

I just want the Live Seattle show but ...And Justice for All isn’t included unless I pay the whole $108. Ridiculous and they should be ashamed.
  • If you get just one song get this one...

So how far back has Lars been recognized for his “innovative” drumming technique? At least all the way back to 1988! Check out Seek & Destroy (Live at the Troubadour, West Hollywood, CA - May 24th 1988) 2:53 - 2:58. Check it out and try not to laugh milk out of your nose. FYI, it’s impossible. While you’re at it, check out 4:53 - 4:58 as Hetfield switches up the lyrics a bit giving a subtle nod to Alcohollica. All this makes this live version of a classic a must have. Available for a limited time! Get yours now! By the way, I haven’t bought the live bass solos ‘cuz if they’re anything like the AJFA studio tracks they’re just gonna be dead air. (Aww yes there it is!) Can we please get an “And Justice For Jason” mix?
  • An amazing look into the history and process of Metallica

I quite enjoy this album. all of it. It begins with the remastered album. no, it doesn't have bass but i've never heard this album with bass and love it all the same, drums are punchy, expertly done and the riffs are something to marvel at. Next is seattle 89'. I didnt go to this show, but from this recording i can tell it was a hell of a party. good sound quality for a recording that wasn't really meant for much, great setlist. The next bunch of tracks are demos, riffs, and interveiws, which give you a good (albiet not unprecedented) look into metallica's songwriting process and the ways these songs changed from 86 to 87 to 88. the interveiws offer the band's take on the album. then you get a show at troubador. its good, but the recording is rough in some places (to be expected). you still get your moneys worth here if you like live vintage metallica. Jason's backing vocals are quite good. same goes for the shows at hammersmith and long beach. they are metallica live albums, simple as that. if you like live metallica you will enjoy the concerts. Spronkled in with all of these goodies are radio edits, b - sides, and misc. live tracks. In my opinion, well worth the money spent, though i know the same is not true for everyone.

i guess in 3 years bob rock can figure out how to make bass sound good not like it never sounded good on the first 3 albums but whatever. lars and james both have a story why theres barely any bass but theyre both bs cop outs. cliff was the man and so was jason.

Over a hundred bucks for this?? I don’t think so. Don’t waste your time with everything else. Get the 89 Seattle songs and that’s it. Metallica at their peak.
  • Remaster? Needs a remix. NO BASS

What you want are the rough mixes. They're fairly close to the originals and definitely have discernable bass. It's probably as close as we'll ever get to Metallica releasing the finished versions with the bass at a noticeable level. We also get Breadfan and The Prince in this form, which is a nice surprise. This is definitely a collection for the Metallica diehard and not for the casual fan, with the emphasis on demos, live performances, and bootlegs. If you are a casual and just want the bass, purchase the rough demos. If you live, breathe, and crave Metallica, there's a lot to dig into.
