I was surprused to find my wife had this album on repeat when she shared how much she loved it. I'd been a fan of Lykke Li's previous albums was oblivious to 'so sad so sexy'. Was stunned at the change in musucal direction, but wow - the results are something: Lykke embraces Trap ;-) Clearly the lyrical content conveys the struggles of a relationship in distress - to tremendous effect. We took advantage of the opportunity to attend a live performance and it was stunning how much of the audience sang along to these songs - her accomanying bad was talented, no doubt, and the interpretations of her older material was very compelling. Too many favorites on this album to name, but 'bad woman' if I forced to choose.
  • I FILTERED THIS ALBUM

What attracted me to Lykke Li's music was her unique sound and lyrics which set her aside from mainstream and other pop trash artists. With "So Sad So Sexy", it seems she's combined the Lykke Li I know and like with the pop trash mainstream music that's out there now. After listening to this album in it's entirety, I filtered the album to 6 of the songs that are reminiscint to me of her sound and song writing. The 6 songs worth while on this album are; Hard Rain, Last Piece, So Sad So Sexy, Better Alone, Bad Woman & Utopia.

I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard Lykke Li‘s incredible voice. I was working as a merchandiser and “I Follow Rivers” came on over the speakers. The instant love I felt for this artist literally stopped me in my tracks. Seven years later and she only gets better and better and I only love her more. Love this album. It’s just So Sad, So Sexy.

This album flows so well and goes by so quickly, I’m so glad my audio system auto loops it when it’s over. Definitely a distinct album from the ones in the past, but give Grown Mama Lykke the benefit of the doubt. You’ll be pleasantly surprised as you sink into the rhythmic vibes and lovely swoon of her voice.
  • Such a creative.

I love how this album stands out from all the crap out in the industry right now. I feel like I understand this music in my soul. This album is going to blow it up!

.....Slow, boring, monotonic: these new songs offer nothing even close to the same punchy hits from what seems like eons ago: I Follow Rivers, Get Some, etc. Very disappointing effort after such a long wait and such high expectations. How about a melody or two?!
