Let me start off by saying that Dance Gavin Dance is probably my favorite band. I love all their other albums no matter what era/lead vocalist. But this album just seems so subpar to me. What happened to Tillian Pearson's voice? He sounds so raspy and also emotionless. The vocal melodies are sometimes so annoying. (I can't even stand Story Of My Bros) Even most of the instrumentals sound like they're just phoning it in. I miss the experiementation brought by every other album. The production/mixing isn't even good. It sounds staticy and melded together. Mothership sounded beautiful. I just don't know what to make of this album.

An absolute banger of an album. “Shelf Life” and the other songs that came out before the album such as “Care” or “Son of Robot” rate up there also. It’s a well balanced item that exceeds my expectations even past mothership.
  • Great album.

Shelf Life with Kurt singing with Tilian... can’t beat that old sound from the Happiness album. The whole album catchy af and the groove it brings isn’t like any other album.

Also pretty disappointing after the banger of an album that Mothership was. Chucky and Inspire The Liars were fantastic standouts. The end of Chucky in particular showed us that Tillan was capable of more energy than we ever saw before. There's nothing like that here. Count Bassy is a (relatively) slow song that doesn't really go anywhere. Son of Robot isn't bad, but it's far from the opening gunshot that Chucky and We Own The Night taught me to expect. This album is definitely still GDG, but it felt diluted to me.
