Her playing is soft. Those who like a “bang bang bang” type of piano wont like this. Lets face it, Bach never wrote for the kind of piano glenn Gould played but people love his interpretation anyhow . Open your mind and enjoy her interpretation with the terrific Far Cry Orchestra.

The Phillip Glass is superbly moving. I can’t say the Bach is awful, but not on the level of Angela Hewitt.

The most boring and sloppy recording of Bach i've heard it quite awhile. Particularly the enemble.

On every level a winner. Dinnerstein shines, A Far Cry (despite Norman’s review (Boolez who trolls all Glass releases)) is a thrilling young ensemble. One of their cellists was just elevated to principal cello of the Boston Symphony (to give you an idea of his idea of expertise). Great performance, great engineering, and one of my favorites so far this year.

Dinnerstein presents an album begining with quite possibly the most sloppy and disintersted Bach concerto recording in recent memory. Hipster string ensemble A Far Cry barely makes it through, and offers no sense of engagement, color, or self awarness of what is going on. Philip Glass has apparently written a third piano concerto, and wrote it for Dinnerstein. The collaboration is a match made in heaven of bland, predictible Glass music. The last movement is oddly dedicated to Arvo Part. The reason for this is uncertain, and one would hope that Part would take this as an insult. Part, is more of an able composer than Glass could ever be. For reference, go get Part's pseudo piano concerto Lamantate and hear how this is much better put toegher. One hopes that a Glass doesn't have a fourth concerto in the works. -Bz

The Glass concerto is lovely. More romantic than many of his works. Played very clearly with more interpretation than many other clockwork Glass performances. The Bach concerto was a real let down. You don't have to have a harpsichord and baroque instruments to play Bach, but this schmaltzy rendition strays very far from its origins. Very poor playing by the orchestra. I guess I'm satisfied to have payed double for the Glass concerto
