I love how she can go from jangly melodic to heavy-duty dissonance all in the same song - - anyone who can do that has my interest. After listening fairly carefully to rock music since the 60's, this holds up just fine - - there are all sorts of interesting guitar bits if you pay attention. Or even if you don't. Not sure why the bunch of negative comments - - maybe from people who just sound mean, or haven't really listened. And you know how the records which don't grab you on the first listen, are sometimes the ones that you develop the most lasting appreciation for.

If you think all her music sounds the same, that’s fine, but you don’t have to be rude about it.

This is a really good album, exhilarating even, at times. Interesting lyrics. The sound is hard edged and vulnerable at the same time. I'm a fan.

I don’t care about labels. The buyers & samplers will let you know if good music is good music. I used to be in a band as well & this sounds a bit like The Pretenders/ Liz Phair/ a little Lou Reed amongst others. The music didn’t grab me, dragged & was lacking hutzpah. Show different dimensions of yourself to fully explore your talent.

I don’t really like any other songs, other than the last one. The rest sound the same.

This album is great.

Courtney has a style that’s evolving sometimes in directions different than her fans are completely ready for. This is what makes her music good and fun to listen to. Great artists do what they do, so forget what some say and check out this Beautiful new album!

I was shocked reading some of these reviews. I'm a guitar player and song writer. Since I stumbled on to Courtney (Thanks to Kurt Vile!) I've been "borrowing" bits and pieces of her style. Clever thieves, that's how we roll. Take off the labels and listen, you might enjoy- Nice job Courtney!
