  • What were you expecting?!

I find the poor reviews of this hilarious. What exactly did you expect from "Ambient Rain for Sleep"? It's the sound of rain. Period. I use it as white noise to block out other noises on overnight flights or in hotel rooms. Excellent for travel. The point is to focus the brain on this sound so it doesn't hear all of the other sounds going on around you - then you drift off too sleep. Easy. Done. End of story.

The first night we brought my newborn from the hospital she screamed and would not sleep. My husband downloaded this album and the second we turned it on the ipod she stopped crying and went right to sleep!!! It has been amazing!!! She is now almost 5 months old and it still works like a charm. She is about to move into her own room and I just added it to my own ipod as I can't sleep without it!!!

Whoever created this album knew he could get away with a lot because if the intention is to put the listener to sleep, you don't have to worry much about the quality of the album. Indeed, I think everyone who has been reviewing this at no less than 5 stars hasn't made it past 3 to 5 minutes of this single-track album. I won't say there is false advertising here. I wasn't looking for music to be added in; you won't find that here. I wanted pure natural rain sounds. There is definitely rain noise on this album. But it is a constant sound... which probably is good for those trying to sleep. For those of us trying to read to the rain noise though it is quite insipid. I thought I could get the same effect by unplugging my cable box from my tv and setting it to a "snowy" channel because--except for the faint dripping sound--the overwhelming sound is quite similar to the staticy "swshhhhhh" sound of snowy tv. Sounds less like rain and more like niagra falls to me. Like I said it is constant. Not once did I hear a change in the pace of the rain -- like in a real storm -- or even a faint -- not even a fake -- crack of thunder. I'm not sure if this is a 1hour 15minute track of rain or a 10second track looped for 1hour 15minutes. I've heard other natural rain tracks -- not from iTunes, can't seem to get a good one on here -- and this one does not compare.
