Painting With is not as emotionally charged as their previous albums, there are no long banshee beats here. On my first few listens I didn't really latch onto this but it's slowly become the most addicting and fun albums I've ever heard. Despite a few pretty weak tracks, this album still rises near the top of their discography.

After about 5 listen thru's, I gotta say this album is amazing. If you are looking for tracks like "In the flowers" or "Flesh Canoe" (which I love) , then I'm afraid you will be disappointed. But take the album as it is. Lively and very well composed. At no point is there a track that sounds "too long". You may find a similarity in vocal orchestration throughout most tracks, but each in some way uses this in a different way. In the song "On Delay", it really feels like it's about their particular love for the "delay" . Vocals/sounds/beats composed in a uniform way, especially on stage when you see the other band members. Anyways, check it out for yourself! The 1 min preview sound should be all you need.

As with all art, music is 100% subjective, so I can only speak to my own experience. That said, I haven’t enjoyed an entire album this much in a long time. I find “Painting With” a lot of fun to listen to and very addictive. As someone who loves Avey Tare’s and Panda Bear's harmonies and full, layered vocals, “Painting With” pushes all the right buttons. To me, it feels like an evolution of Merriweather Post Pavilion, which is a great thing. I can’t say that anyone else will like it as much as I do, but for what it’s worth, I think it’s great and am very glad I purchased it.

Catchy melodies but with new sound, fast and very concise songs just like this review. I enjoyed this album a lot and I can't stop dancing to them (I'm looking at you Floridada) and others I can't get out of my head! (The Burglars, Golden Gals). Very well done album.
