I bought this album before I understand the full scope of who R. Kelly has become. He had a bed inside his recording studio, and he systematically groomed little black children to be trapped into a situation of endless sexual exploitation for himself. Not 1 or 2, but dozens. So in between the recording and mastering of these songs, he's literally subjecting girls to sexual trauma. This is the music of physical abuse, and intense psychological manipulation. Imagine you're a little kid, and someone you look up to as the greatest idol, abuses that trust, and slowly methodically begins to remove your sense of self esteem, and ability to exist outside of him. Soon you have to ask to goto the bathroom, as to eat. You're not allowed to talk to anyone but him, you can't contact your parents for years. Imagine you're a parent, and your child is on track to become a star, and has made a connection with a famous singer. You're there all along the way, attending every meeting, every get together. Then they turn 18, and suddenly they can't be reached on the phone, and you don't know where they are. They go missing for 3 years. R Kelly needs to recognize that what he's doing is wrong. He needs to get help, and then he needs to go about seeking to repair the damage he's done. But right now, our system of fame, wealth, and our disgusting ideas of what makes someone "a man" has created an environment where he doesn't have to face what he's done. He has shown us he will not stop any of this. It continues to this day. Whomever at Apple who reads this - please make a strong decision here. So long as this man is making money from the celebration of sexual manipulation, he will be free to continue to hurt black women in this way. As fans of music, we can't support this knowing where the money is going. I wonder if my $10 paid for part of a hotel room where a little girl has to pee in a bucket, and ask Robert Kelly before she can empty it (this really is what is happening). No music is worth this loss of human dignity, it makes me angry, sad, and disgusted. Please pause selling Robert Kelly's music - I request that the money I spent be donated to an appropriate cause which helps with healing from sexual abuse.
