  • “The Empire Strikes Back” of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas

Words cannot describe how amazing this album is. I’ve listened to this ever single Christmas since I was 5 (I’m 31 now). My favorite song is “Carol of the Bells.” Talk about taking the follow up album to an already incredible original in 1984 and moving it to the next level. These songs undoubtedly capture the spirit of the Christmas past, present and future. They will be timeless forever. If I could give more than five stars, I would! Bless you Chip Davis.

I started listening to this Christmas music back in the 1980s. I remember rocking my sons to sleep as babies at 1:00pm diaper changing, feeding time listening to this. Best bonding ever, thanking the Lord Jesus. This takes me back. Wonderful music.

I'm 22 years old and I can't remember a Christmas season that I didn't listen to Mannheim Steamroller. These are my favorite Christmas albums of all time. I think that I like Christmas in the Aire the most, but the 2 versions of Hark the Herald Angels Sing are amazing on this album.

I'm serious. I think I heard these songs when I was a toddler Hark! Trumpet Fanfare: 8/10: It's great, but a bit too short. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing: 9/10: Sounds a bit like Deck the Halls, but you know, that was great and so is this. Veni Veni: 10/10: Beautiful. Amazing. The Holly and the Ivy: 10/10: I REALLY like this one. This is the perfect mix of orchestra and synths. Little Drummer Boy: 9/10: It gets a bit repetitive but other than that, it's pretty good. Lo! How A Rose E'er Blooming: 10/10: They took one of my favorite Christmas carols and arranged it for a brass ensemble. It's beautiful. In Dulci Jubilo: 9/10: This one is pretty great. I like the baroque-ness of it. Greensleeves: 10/10: Beautiful. Very somber . Carol of the Bells: 1000/10: You just have to listen. The best Mannheim Steamroller EVER! Traditions of Christmas: 9/10: It's pretty good. This is original, I think. I haven't listened to it as much. Cantique de Noel: 10/10: Hauntingly beautiful.

I grew up on Mannheim Steamroller Christmas and I have always loved their albums. With Christmas(1984), Christmas In the Aire(1995) and Christmas Extraordinare(2001) they have always had a special place in my heart. But Christmas in the Aire(1988) is my favorite album of theirs and my favorite Christmas album of all time. I think it was their breathtaking/haunting version of O Come O Come Emmanuel that got me hooked. O Come O Come is my favorite Christmas song as well. You won't be disappointed with this album (or any of their albums a matter of fact). You will be blessed the whole way through. You will probably be crying at the end. :)

I've listened to this every Christmas since I was young and have always loved it. My favorite song on the album is O Holy Night.
