There are no words to express Mahalia Jackson's talent. Also, she took her time singing and it always paid off in such a huge way. There is an old movie that plays on cable, "Imitation of Life" where she sings at the end and I was captivated by her voice. Shivers just thinking about it. How extraordinary that I can download her songs to my devices and now hear her whenever I want. Wow!

She is so amazing!! Her voice moves me deep down in my soul!! I remember listening to her when I was 8 years old at my grandmothers home (rip). Her voice was so powerful and just breath taking!! There's just none out as of now that can compare to this angle of God! Thank you M. Jackson (rip)

My mother, born and bred in the Deep South, brought me up listening to this exceptionally gifted singer, the incomparable Mahalia Jackson. I learned to appreciate the stirring and soulful musicality of this beautiful American gospel singer's voice and stylings, which transcend categorization and that never fail to uplift. The legend is that Mahalia Jackson was aggressively pursued by big-record labels, even back in the 50s and 60s, but declined, because they wanted her to sing blues or jazz or pop.
