I have always found young girl sopranos to be immature and uncouth in their delivery. Tesolin doesn't fail to keep the standard. When compared to MIstresses of the Aria such as Callas and contemporaries like Bartoli, Tesolin sounds forced and strained. You can especially hear this in the first Aria of La Boheme as she struggles to hit notes and flouts about on the scale changes. Habanera, from Carmen has never been so butchered (I saw an egg farmers' commercial with a chicken singing it a few years ago in my youth and I preferred that recording). At her age, Tesolin has no recollection of tongue, unable to pronounce even the simplest of phrases and lyrics. One can't even assume that age will bring about a more sophisticated sound from this young girl, age doesn't guarantee anything but age. If you receive this as a gift from a non opera lover (why else would you have this), do yourself a favor; throw this in the trash and don't look back. After which, you should find the friend who gave you this album and retract all Christmas and birthday gifts from them. As for you, Aria Tesolin. I suggest you emancipate yourself from your parents (they had your life planned from the day they named you) and go learn some Britney Spears songs, that may be more your speed.

This sounds like a little kid doing karaoke. Save your money. Maybe in 10 years, she'll put out a better album with a more mature voice, but why would you want this crap right now?
  • A perfect example of when people sing stuff they aren't suited for.

The people exploiting this child should be shot by firing squad. It really irks me to no degree when children's voices are abused in this way by people who should be looking out for their best interest. And shame on the studios for producing this kind of crap at the expense of a young child and her family who might not know any better. Any voice professional worth their salt would have recommended that she not touch ANY of the material on this CD until she had had several years of serious study. Perhaps the Barcarolle from Hoffman is the only piece on here that might be vocally appropriate, and only because of it's limited vocal range. Firstly, no 12-13 year old can even begin to comprehend the dramatic content of most of this operatic material (um, Traviata for a 12 year old?? did they read the libretto??), let alone have the technique to sustain singing this kind of music for any real amount of time. Also, did anyone discuss with her how the Rigoletto and the Barbiere arias aren't even appropriate in content for a female to sing? I wonder how much doctoring in the studio this CD had before it's release. It's such a shame too, because really it's a quite talented voice for this age. This child could have a really bright future in classical music if she had some good guidance and someone to look out for her well-being. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this is the case.

It's obvious that every positive comment on here was made by someone that personally knows this child and is trying to defend her, or just has no idea what opera, or music in general is. This girl has a pure, sweet voice, but her voice is NOT ready for these challenging pieces.

I think she is a great singer and shes only 13 for crist's sake give the girl a brake she can sing better than you! I relly enjoyed this album, her voice is so clear and calming.
  • Horrible

The singing is out of key and sounds twisted. Don't buy it unless you need it for background music of a horror flick
  • Nice voice, but not for opera at ALL.

First of all, this girl has a nice, clear, ethereal voice. She'd do well singing folk-ish Hayley Westerna-esque stuff. Unfortunately, much like Hayley, her voice is totally wrong for opera. It has no weight and is too flat and emotionless for it. Besides, even if she DID have the voice for opera, she's singing incredibly difficult arias WAY too early. She barely has any control over her voice. She's going to end up hurting herself if she doesn't stop. Notice how there are no pre-teens in title roles at the Met or La Scala? That's because there's NO SUCH THING as a "12-year-old opera singer." Being an opera singer takes years and years of practice, learning, and vocal maturation. (If anyone's curious as to what a GOOD young opera singer-in-training sounds like, research Ekaterina Shelehova.)

I don't care what people say. This girl has an amazing voice. It rings true and clear. I love the song Habanera, and from the hundreds of versions of it on itunes, I choose this one. I'm not going to say "give her her a break," because that would be insulting her extreme talents. If you're reading this Aria, KEEP IT UP! You are amazing and classical voice training can lead to good talent in other genres as well.

She doesn't seem to have improved much since she was 8...There's SOMETHING there to work with it, but she hasn't really gotten anywhere yet... Work on your intonation and vibrato...
