For those who are confused of this album, it was recorded during the Test For Echo tour. The band was in a struggling state with $, so they tried Test For Echo and did a tour in support of it from ‘96 - ‘97. It was the first tour to include 2 separate sets and an encore. This was also the tour where they played the entire song of 2112 live! This is a must get for rush fans, especially for that 2112!

I don't think that I will ever foget buying this album when it was released. It started my own personal love for the band & their music. If you don't like RUSH & you are reading this you may want to find another band to fall in love with. May be a bit pricey but if you just need one boat load of some great LIVE ROCK to chew on this is one for YOU! We Have Assumed Control- Were you there?
  • Great sounding Live set!

I bought this set primarily to get the live recordings of songs from their late ‘80’s through mid- ‘90’s albums. This is a very good live recording, the mix is nice and I read that they didn’t use overdubs after, so it’s raw. I found out that the 3rd disc is excerpted from a 1978 concert that was just released on the 40th Anniversary edition of A Farewell to Kings a couple years ago (with the entire concert or at least more of it), which I already own. Comparing the two editions, the mix is “hotter” on Different Stages, but not bad, the main issue is it’s been edited, however it’s better remastered sound quality on the AFTK 40th set.
  • Best Sounding LIVE RUSH album

This is the best sounding live RUSH album. The song selection is good....but the SOUND is incredible. Geddy's bass right up front, the guitar is clear, and the drums are perfect. High priced on iTunes, but worth it if you want a great sounding live album.

Great cd. Saw them in 79 when they played 2112 in it's entirety. Great to hear it again!!!

The track ends abruptly and goes silent at the 3:37 mark I emailed support. Hopefully, this is fixable. Has anyone else experienced this?

This is probably one of Rush's better live releases. The only live album to feature 2112 in its absolute entirety (despite the key-change) came at a great time for the band: right in the midst of their transition from "the synth period" back to a power trio sound. Featuring the latest hits from their more recent (for the time) albums, Test For Echo, Roll the Bones, and Counterparts, and a nice collection of their famous hits, Different Stages features Rush with their big "new" sound back. And if that wasn't enough, the collection also features a recording of the band on the Farewell to Kings tour at the Hammersmith Odeon in England. It is more hard-rocking than All the World's A Stage, and has the "mid-sized" epics "Xanadu", "Cygnus X-1", and "By-Tor And The Snow Dog", as well as their hits at the time, "Bastille Day", "Anthem", and a great medley of "Working Man", "Fly By Night", and "In the Mood" (though it's somewhat annoyingly made into 3 separate tracks). This album is not worth the $35 iTunes priced it at, but it is definitely worth getting if you can find it elsewhere. Don't pass up on it!

But who's going to pay $35 dollars?I find that kind of expensive. But anyway I can't wait for their new album. It's going to be amazing
  • Not paying that much for an album download

The album gets 5 stars. iTunes' price gets -0- stars. Wise up iTunes - the price is completely out of line, especially for a download. I'm not buying it. I can't imagine anyone laying out that kind of money for it. Shouldn't be more than twenty bucks.
