I have been waiting for this album to release since I heard a preview back in January, so maybe I'm biased. This album also couldn't have come at a better time given the world is sheltered in place due to COVID-19. The collaborations are warmly welcomed here; all are superb artists who add to the complexity of this project. This album showcases Clubertson's creativity with arrangement and integrating various styles. For me, this added pros and cons; while I absolute love each track individually, the flow was a litte off in some areas. For example, tracks 1, 2, and 5 all seemed like they could have been the foundation for separate albums. On a final note, the prelude and intro tracks, while beautiful, seem like they could have been combined with the corresponding tracks to create space for two additional full length tracks. Still, my critiques are minor, and I love the album. Please keep making new music, and I can't wait for the tour!

I have always enjoyed the variety of jazz that you bring. This new music is awesome!! My question is why iTunes is not advertising this as new release???

Very impressive. I am still enjoying 2019’s creation. He’s sure has those creative juices flowing. I previewed to all 10 tracks on iTunes. The prelude and Intro are just fillers to stuff the record. In my opinion, this new effort it is a little eclectic for me. There is a nice collection of collaborators but it reminds me of the artist he joined up with for his Colors of Love Video. That live secession was all over the place. At 67, I prefer his more SMOOTH Jazz efforts. If I want XX style music, I will go to my Blues playlist. Not saying a smooth Jazz artist can get funky. Boney does a nice job of “funkiness.” Checking his iTunes song list alphabetically, I confirmed these are all now tracks. No redo’s or reuse of titles so that is good for a creative effort that gets released less than 12 months from his previous LP. He hasn’t done that since his spree of 4 back-to-back LP’s in 94, 95, 96 and 97. The new songs on XX are another display of Brian’s creative writing and instrument skills. You may have to purchase the CD in order to link the two songs with Intros without a break between the Intro and the song it is connected with. I do not believe you can do that if you download it.Keep on Jass'n.
