Having been a fan since 2006, I've heard all of Josh's albums. Being a musician/songwriter/composer myself, I have always appreciated the creative efforts in Josh's work. And also having had the opportunity to see him in concert with Mason Jar, plus pleasantly meeting him briefly afterwards, I have an even greater appreciation for Josh as a person. Musically, I feel that each of his albums is unique in their own way. Josh has released yet another fantastic collection of his lifes journey. This album is very refreshing; 100% bathed in the presence of the Holy Spirit. I encourage watching his youtube video named "Take the Lord With You" to hear his personal perspective of writing and creating at this point in his life. It will help you understand this album even better. Thank you, Josh, for sharing your talents with us, again.

I have followed this young man for a decade and he is like the fine wine of life.... he is getting better with age. This is beautifully crafted with a heart you rarely find in today’s music. Lyrics are solid and the music is other worldly...Thank you Josh!!

It’s good for what it is, but it’s far from Love and War album. There is nothing to really sing along to or that gets stuck in my head. Nothing catchy and addicting. I hope the next album has more of that unique flare with gospel centered lyrics, not worship songs.

Well, Josh, you have been my favourite artist for a long while. Unfortunately, this album doesn’t appear as true to you as could be presumed from previous albums, all of which I love dearly. Josh, did you get a producer? Because it sounds like you did. Alas, this is not a compliment. The music on this album sounds overproduced, lacking the homey and personal texture of all of your previous artwork. Additionally, it seems you’ve focused more on worship-type lyrical content; no objections there. But the music sounds more like worship-genre music. Alas, again, this is also not a compliment. It sounds less like a thing by Josh Garrels and more like an thing by Josh Garrels and a worship music producer. It could have been a worshipful album which breaks free from the constraints of the worship genre, (such as was Josh White’s “Pilgrim”) but it makes me sad that that is not what it became. I would have trouble worshiping to this album because of the distraction caused by what I know the music could be. (I would, however, pay triple for an acoustic version of this album; I love the original “Anchor of My Soul”.) I hope in the future you will forego the employment of a producer; you don’t need one; you’re far better without that sort of thing. Granted, this album is still better than most of the worship music out there, but it still makes me a bit sad. So did writing this review. I’m sorry. Love you, Josh.
  • Well Done. So well-textured

Every Josh Garrels album has multiple songs that are far better than any songs promoted on the radio and have far greater depth. I'm not a musician but the variety of instruments and musical arragements across an album are stunning. The albums themselves are so textured that they can never be pinned with a single label. Another unique, creative album from Josh Garrels. Excellent job, Josh.

Since ‘Rise’ came out...I have had his music on repeat constantly and am always waiting for new music to pour out of him and into our ears. He is so intentional with his artistry and it always gives glory to the One who gave him that gift.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Peter Gabriel, and I definitely feel that kind of influence and vibe in much of Josh’s writing and production work. The underlying percussion’s and sting arrangements, along with a very opened, airiness feeling, creates a very haunting and mystical groove that’s easy on the ears, and allows the listener to be more focused on lyrical content, which is powerful and moving.
  • A Beautifully Moving Work of Art

Josh Garrels never fails to deliver heartfelt and impressive works of art. You can feel the time and effort he puts into everything he does. His lyrics are particularly poignant and touching in this album along with extra risks and genres he experimented with. He dove into a more alternative sounds in the early songs, brought back his bread and butter of folk and soul, and even has a few that are clearly influenced by the Beatles/70’s vibes. Impossible not to love. Go check it out! This rivals his best album Love & War!
