  • Unusually great album...

I bought this album because I have the Clara Schumann piano trio and have wondered for years what the rest of her music might be like. So I bought the album to satisfy that curiosity. But in the bargain got introduced to Ms. Kanneh-Mason who must be on the verge of what will be a wonderful career. Why? Because of the current crop of "young" pianists she is more about making the music musical than showing off her technique (which she has plenty of as required by the concerto...). The piano tone is more in the classic tradition than the modern cookie-cutter technicians. Music is apparently a DNA thing with her since all of her siblings are also musical. Whatever.... She is just beautiful to listen to. This is a wonderful album of music that most of us won't know. The sound on a high-ish end system "Mastered for iTunes" sounds natural and balanced. It's all highly recommended...AND read the Wiki biography of Clara while you're at it...a really amazing woman all around...raised 7 children as a widow for 40 years after Robert died AND had a very successful piano career to support it all. It's all an amazing story (and I have no gender oriented ax to grind about any of this).
