  • Listen for Yourself

It’s always difficult to use words to explain the experience of listening to music. That’s even harder with Alanna’s music. It engages the whole person, mind and emotions. It makes you pay attention. There’s a rare purity and honesty in these songs. And so much beauty, beauty with real substance. This is true art. It grapples with the world as it actually is and acknowledges the wide range of human experience. There’s pain, darkness and anger but there’s also love, hope, and even joy. I don’t know what else to say without sounding corny. Maybe I already do. :) Just listen for yourself. And Alanna, if you’re reading this, you are a beautiful soul and your work makes the ugliness in this world more bearable. It helps us to reach out for what is true and good and beautiful. Thank you!

Life and love are never clearcut and simple. There is a beautiful pain that infuses life and we can either focus on that pain and live it it or we can follow the footsteps of Alanna Boudreau and use the pain to love more deeply. As she has with each of her albums, Alanna has shared such amazing beautiful in Goodbye Stranger. Her songs have given a voice to the soundless words of my heart. She knows what true love, both divine and human, is and her music leads you to love love more. Or that's what it does for me, perhaps it can do the same for you. Ex tota corde.
