  • Fantastic Debut

Briana Buckmaster has a serious set of pipes. Her languid Nina Simone cover evokes nothing less than Michelle Pfeiffer’s iconic piano-top performance in “The Fabulous Baker Boys.” Two tracks later, she belts out “Gun Powder and Lead” like she’s from Kentucky instead of Canada. Buckmaster’s voice perfectly compliments Louden Swain’s Rob Benedict, so it’s no surprise that his band contributed original material to her debut. On “Olive Branch,” the pair’s vocal chemistry drives the song to a heartfelt conclusion. A cover of “How Will I Know?” rounds out the collection. Producer Jason Manns pares the synth-pop standard back to nothing but piano and brush drums, letting Buckmaster transform the synth-pop standard into a melancholy plea for romantic wisdom.

I’ve been looking for something new in my line up and this is exactly what I needed. Briana’s soulfully unique voice and the fantastic song choice make this an album an instant radio repeat. I can’t wait to see what Briana tackles next. Congratulations wayward sister!

Briana Buckmaster has succeeded in producing an album that is both gracefully sweet and strong. All of her songs are oozing with strength and confidence, while inspiring those same things in myself. I have watched her progression over the years and am so proud to finally have music of hers to listen to at home!

Briana is such an incredibly talented human being & this album is a perfect first venture into the music world. Her covers are spectacular, & the originals written for this album are beautiful & personal. I’ll have this album on repeat for months, I can already tell. Her cover of Gunpowder & Lead is such a #waywardAF anthem & Better Than That has already made me cry more than once. Love it. So much.

Loved everything about the album; the song choices, the instrument choices, and of course Briana! Even if you’re not a blues person (like me) this is on a whole new level of amazing! There isn’t one song that I didn’t like! Definitely worth over a million listens to!
